The story begins when Pedro de Dios (Guadalupe Plata) discovers a pair of masks at home, a green one, still under investigation, and a gorilla one, at the same time that he met Pelomono (Antonio “Pelomono”), which undoubtedly was a sign .
The umpteenth adventure of Pedro de Dios Barceló (Úbeda, Jaén, Spain, 1979), this time along with Antonio Pelomono (Los Fabulosos Macarrones among others.) A Pedro de Dios’s project that serves to him not only to give vent to his instrumental vein, which is the largest one he has after all but to mix all he likes, of course, with consistency and savoir faire.
Rock and roll, surf, country, blues, spaghetti western, soundtrack…, a fresh (dirty) and raw sound, emanating freshly baked smell.
Cover versions of Angelo Badalamenti, “Pink Room“, where not only not lost, as in the original version, the hypnotism and the occult but it has the Pelo Mono touch. The magical cover of “Sonido Amazónico“, the seventies Peruvian Cumbia band Los Mirlos (Moyobamba – San Martin), totally in accordance with the atmosphere. Besides the excellent adaptation of the great “Lookin’ Good” by Magic Sam, and a tribute to Charles Mingus in “Mingus“.
From primitive instruments is extracted the primitive sound, or rather, primate sound.
In just a few days Pedro de Dios will talk to us about all of this and about many more things, here at Blind Carre.
You can now listen and download the brand new Pelo Mono album on Bandcamp.
